The region of Cappadocia was named “the Tabal land” after the downfall of the Hittite Empire. The inhabitants of this region wanted to have friendly relations with the Assyrian Kingdom but was continually attacked by it throughout the 10th- 7th centuries B.C. This span of time is named the ” Dark Age” of Anatolia and Cappadocia.
