THE CHURCH OF AGACALTI One of the oldest churches of Cappadocia is the St. Daniel’s Church and it dates back to the 6th century A.D. Its groundplan is in the shape of a cross and the central cupola has the painting of the Resurrection. This church is named after the figures of St. Daniel and of a lion at the western wall which have been partly preserved. The other important biblical scenes seen in this church are that of the Annunciation, the visit, the flight from Egypt, and the Epiphany.
