Cappadocia balloon tours Cappadocia balloon tour Cappadocia balloon tours turkey Balloon tour cappadocia
The lunar landscape of Cappadocia can only truly be appreciated from a high vantage point, and a balloon trip starting at dawn is a breathtaking experience not to be missed.

The balloon flight in Cappadocia is said to be the best in the world alongside the balloon flight in Kenya. It’s easy to fit in a balloon trip in with your other tours because they start very early in the morning – just don’t forget your camera!

Cappadocia balloon tour The company picks you up from your hotel and offers you a bite for breakfast before taking you to the launch site. It’s very exciting watching the balloon being inflated. There’s a brief lesson on how to take off and land safely … then you’re off!

Every flight is different because of the wind direction. The talented pilots go as high as 2 km for fantastic birds-eye views and so low that you can almost touch the huge rock formations and pick fruit from the trees. During sunrise the colors of the sun mix with the colors of the rocks making this an unforgettable moment.

On landing, there is the traditional celebration and cakes, and you can help the land crew pack up the balloon if you want. Everyone who completes the trip is awarded a flight certificate. Then you are taken back to your hotel in time for breakfast and any tour you have planned for the day.

There are two flights: a 60 minute flight (prices start from 160 Euros cash) and a 90 minute flight (prices start from 230 Euros cash). The price depends on the company you fly with and includes all-round-service, full passenger insurance and all taxes. With the long flight a small basket (roughly 12 passengers) can be guaranteed. With the short flight baskets may be bigger with more passengers. As balloon flights are very popular, advanced booking is advised. Should you not be able to fly, cancellation is free if notice is given in writing up to 24 hours before the flight.

Cappadocia balloon tour Wondering what to wear? Definitely dress on the warm side for the time of year as the air in the morning can be very cool. Flat shoes are recommended, as are trousers, and please avoid wearing white. A camera and lots of memory cards are a must, and don’t forget to charge all your batteries the night before!
We will visit the Selamlik chambers of the incredible 19th c. Dolmabahce Palace. Kariye Church (Chora museum) with its 14th c mosaics and frescoes, depicting scenes from the Bible. Tekfur Sarayı (Porphyrogenetus) last extant Byzantine imperial palace, is just a shell, but it gives a fine idea of what the emperor’s residence might have looked like in Byzantine times. Closed for extensive restorations in 2006 and is not yet open, though you can get a glimpse from the outside. We continue along the ancient city walls then visit Pierre Loti Hill with a view of the Golden Horn. We walk down to Eyup Imperial Mosque and tomb of the standard bearer of Mohammed. Visit the Suleymaniye Mosque, considered to be one of the masterpieces of architect Sinan. Return to Hotel around 17:00pm
Visit the Askenazi Synagogue, and then cross over the Golden horn to Balat, which has been the core of Jewish presence in Istanbul for over five centuries. We then continue to Neve Shalom Synagogue. Visit the old neighborhood and the Ahrida Synagogue. It is the oldest and most beautiful synagogue in Istanbul and was built in the 15th c. Later we will visit the Galata Tower and the old neighborhood of Galata and where you can get a nice view of Old Istanbul and the Zulfaris Museum, with historic and ethnographic sections, celebrating over 500 years of friendship between Turks and Jews. We will end the tour in Ortakoy, where the Sephardic Jews were welcomed to Turkey by the Ottoman Sultan (nice cafes and small restaurants). Visit to Taksim, the 1.2 km pedestrian street leading from Taksim Square down to Tunel is packed with an arbitrary scattering of music and bookstores, movie theaters and cultural centers, cafes, restaurants and bars, commercial banks and offices, shopping outlets and bazaars, consulates and embassies, churches, historical arcades and passageways. Take a stroll through this famous ‘Flower Passage’, built in the mid nineteenth century, which comes vibrantly alive every evening, resonating under the melodies of live Turkish music. Should you follow Cicek Pasaji around to the left, it exits into the Balik Pazari or Fish Market, a wild passageway pinned with small fast-food eateries, fresh fish and vegetable market stalls, a sprinkling of other arbitrary shops and thronging with passers

With its ever-changing panorama and softly rolling roads, the region is ideal for mountain biking. In Cappadocia, every turn in the road brings new sights and scenes, both historic and natural, for the biker. Mountain bikes are rapidly supplanting horses, donkeys and four-wheel drive vehicles for both the local people and tourists.
